Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki’s Marchbanks races to podium in Salt Lake City

Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki press release:

Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki’s Garrett Marchbanks was the sole representation for the team on Sunday as racing resumed following an 85-day break. He made his team proud with a hard-fought podium finish in hot and dry conditions inside Rice-Eccles Stadium, finishing third. Marchbanks now sits third in the points, 14 points back of second.

Marchbanks started the day with a solid fifth-place in qualifying. The riders only got to see the track twice and didn’t get a track walk, so with the different conditions it was a good way to get the day going.

The riders knew it was going to be a long main event with a short, dry track testing them at altitude, so once Marchbanks pulled into third in his heat, he maintained a good pace and lined up with a good gate selection for the main event.

Once the gate dropped for the main event, Marchbanks was ready to get back on the podium. He started fourth, but quickly found his opportunity to make a pass for third and did so on the fourth lap. Marchbanks made some pushes to the front, but ended the day with a solid podium finish.

“There was a lot that could have gone against us today with the track being so dry and still adjusting to the altitude and heat,” said Marchbanks. “And after so much downtime, it was hard to anticipate what to expect. With all those factors, we’ll take a podium, but that’s not where we want to be. I’m really glad we don’t have to wait very long to line up again. We’ll be ready to improve on Wednesday.”
