Vialle on top in MX2 to claw back valuable points in championship.

Team HRC’s Tim Gajser wrapped up the 2022 MXGP World Championship in Finland, marking his fifth title in the series, as Glenn Coldenhoff was victorious for the round and Tom Vialle secured the win in MX2.
Standing Construct Husqvarna Factory Racing’s Brian Bogers took the chequered flag in race one, with a 9.6s advantage ahead of Monster Energy Yamaha MXGP’s Coldenhoff, with Maxime Renaux (Monster Energy Yamaha MXGP) completing the top three.
Coldenhoff went one better in moto two to secure the overall, with Seewer improving on fourth from the first moto to finish second in the final bout and land P2 for the day. Renaux again was third, with his consistency allowing him to complete podium at round 16. Notably, Bogers was P6 in the second race after a fall, which dropped him to fourth overall at Hyvinkaa.
6-7 results were enough for Gajser to secure the title with two rounds remaining, holding a 104-point advantage ahead of Seewer. Coldenhoff is third in the standings and trails his teammate by 104 points.

Points-leader Jago Geerts (Monster Energy Yamaha) overcame Vialle in the first MX2 race to take 25 points, with the 250 SX-F rider finishing second ahead of Nestaan Husqvarna Factory Racing’s Kay de Wolf.
Geerts grabbed the holeshot in moto two but crashed while leading, which resulted in him being pinned under the bike for about half a minute.
Vialle swiftly made his way to the lead but went off track while in P1, allowing Roan van de Moosdijk (Nestaan Husqvarna Factory Racing) to the front.
Van De Moosdijk then fell with two laps to go which saw Vialle take back first position and ultimately win the race, with de Wolf second and the number 39 third. After crashing again when tangled up with Kevin Horgmo (F&H Kawasaki), Geerts crossed the line P7. For the overall, de Wolf finished second behind Vialle as the Geerts completed the rostrum.
Looking at the MX2 World Championship standings after round 16, Geerts leads Vialle by 15 points. Simon Laengenfelder (Red Bull GasGas Factory Racing) remains third, 141 points from the red plate following 9-5 finishes in Finland.
