Defending champion Haiden Deegan will wear the number one plate in the 250SX West division of Monster Energy Supercross 2026, the Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing rider has confirmed just over one month out from Anaheim 1.

Deegan, 19, has spent the majority of the current pre-season onboard YZ450F machinery while training for a pair of World Supercross starts in Argentina and Australia, but has since reverted to his YZ250F.

A simple statement – ‘Plan never changed. See you out West’ – on social media this evening revealed Deegan’s strategy for the new season, despite ongoing speculation that he would fast-track his transition to the premier class this January.

Instead, Deegan will save his full-time 450 debut for the Pro Motocross Championship beginning in May as originally announced, which will extend through the Monster Energy SMX World Championship post-season and into Supercross the following year in 2027.

Deegan was considerably competitive in his recent WSX wildcard appearances, salvaging third overall at Buenos Aires and then P6 on the Gold Coast with a 6-16-2 scorecard.
