Historic stint resulted in the brand's first Supercross and Pro Motocross wins.
SMX mainstay Justin Barcia and GASGAS Factory Racing have formally parted ways following a five-year run together, the pair achieving their share of history together in the process.
Barcia initially joined GASGAS and was equipped with the MC 450F for the 2021 450SX season – incredibly winning their first main event on debut in Houston. That maiden, history-making victory marked the inaugural time that GASGAS had won in AMA Supercross.
The 33-year-old New York native would then go on to earn three more indoor podium finishes that year – as well as fourth overall in the final 450SX standings – before delivering GASGAS its first victory in Pro Motocross at the Spring Creek National that same season via a 1-2 moto scorecard.
Over the course of the four seasons that followed, Barcia would claim a haul of podium results both in Supercross and Pro Motocross, with another 450SX main event victory achieved at East Rutherford in 2023 onboard the GASGAS MC 450F Factory Edition model.
Barcia took fifth overall in both the 2022 and 2023 AMA Supercross Championships, further solidifying his legacy in helping to put GASGAS on the map in North American competition. In 2025, with Rockstar Energy GASGAS Factory Racing, he placed 10th across the entire SMX World Championship season.
Next year will see Barcia lead Ducati’s official entry into SMX in a reunion with former GASGAS team owner Troy Lee Designs – still to be announced alongside Dylan Ferrandis – while GASGAS has been tipped to merge back in with the Rockstar Energy Husqvarna team again from 2026.
