Extent of injuries outlined following 450 moto two incident.
A weak shoulder and mild concussion have been outlined by Chase Sexton following his SuperMotocross World Championship (SMX) Final exit in Las Vegas, due to undergo further evaluations this week.
After finishing P7 in moto one, the 25-year-old was situated fourth in the second 450SMX race on Saturday night before crashing heavily toward the closing stages.
A mangled 450 SX-F, along with Sexton laying on the jump-face of one of the high-speed singles in the back section appeared ominous, as he was assisted by the Alpinestars Mobile Medical Unit before later providing an update on social media.
“Just wanted to give everyone an update and appreciate everyone checking in on me,” commented Sexton. “My shoulder is very weak, so I will be getting it checked this upcoming week, and [I have] a mild concussion. Not the way I was expecting to end this year, but I trust God’s plan, always.”
After taking this year’s Monster Energy Supercross 450SX title down to the wire with eventual champion Cooper Webb (Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing), the season began to unravel for the number four, who experienced a tough Pro Motocross defense marred by injury.
Sexton then completed the SMX championship in eighth position, capturing a series-high result of second position at the SMX Playoff 1 in Charlotte. It’s unclear if he will be fit to represent Team USA at Ironman Raceway in two weeks’ time.
