Debrief: 2025 Pro Motocross Rd7 Spring Creek

Overall winners Jett Lawrence and Haiden Deegan recall seventh round.

The Spring Creek National saw Jett Lawrence extend his overall win streak in 450MX with 2-1 moto scores to make it seven round wins from seven in Pro Motocross 2025. In 250MX, series leader Haiden Deegan returned to the top step of the podium with a consistent 1-2 day at Millville. Hear from both riders in Debrief as they spoke with the media following the race.

Jett, take us through the day – two very different motos for you. From the incident at the start of race one to clawing your way back to a dominant showing in race two and lapping all the way up to 15th place, take us through that.

Yeah, first of all, I had a really good start and just tipped it over. I just worked my way back to second and couldn’t make it back to Hunter [Lawrence]. But [the] second one, I was able to make a good start again, and then tired to just ride with no mistakes, and we just pulled it off. Hunter was there the entire time. He was riding really well but no, it was a good moto.

You were sending it down the hill all day long, just talk about that dynamic, because as Chase [Sexton] mentioned earlier, it’s gnarly and it got really choppy. So how do you balance where to push and maybe not go too far over the edge with that?

Yeah, I think you just gotta trust your bike is the main thing down the hill. That hill, you really have to have a lot of trust in your bike and your ability in case something does go wrong. And yeah, even though I was sending a little bit, I was still losing some time to Hunter. He was jumping that last little bit – that was getting him that little bit of extra time on me.

We’re heading into our third year of the SMX Championship and we’ve seen how this has gone on. You have missed time this year and quite a few of your competitors dropped out this week as well. After having the time off, as a two-time champion, what’s the dynamic like to race all season, try to keep yourself healthy?

I don’t know, honestly. Just stay focused on each round and try not create risk where you don’t need to.

Haiden, congratulations on the win. We heard Jeremy Martin talk about your speed, and the next generation of riders. What’s that like to hear from someone like JMart? He’s a multiple time champion in this series, and someone who’s done so much for the sport on and off the race track.

Yeah, definitely. He’s raced a lot of badass dudes on a dirt bike, so for him to say that, it’s awesome – and age is just a number clearly for him. To go out there in the second moto and dig like that, I’m going to be honest, I sprinted towards him. But with like five laps to go, I’m like, ‘it’s all yours. I ain’t got really nothing left in the tank.’ So yeah, props to him – he was moving.

You’re still recovering after those slams at RedBud, so to have moto one happen like you did, and the back and forth with Jo [Shimoda], can you take us through that?

Yeah, I tried to sprint in the beginning, so I know if I can get into the lead, maybe I can manage it. I saw Jo in second, and I knew he’s going to charge hard. I’ve kind of just been laid up on the couch for literally the whole week. I mean, I touched the bike once on Thursday to do some starts and I was like, ‘it’s too much in pain, it’s not even worth it.’ So I was like, ‘I’m going to give it all I got. But you know, Jo’s moving so we’ll see.’ We ended up coming to a pretty gnarly battle at the end. It was pretty fun. I was definitely quite out of breath, but it was fun.
