Luckless Honda HRC Progressive 250MX contender Chance Hymas is in the process of having his right knee evaluated after dabbing his ‘good leg’ on the final lap of moto two at High Point while racing to fourth overall on Saturday.

Hymas was in visible pain as he crossed the finish line in P3, signalling to his knee as he rode back to the team transporter.

Further visuals from the broadcast later showed the 20-year-old in a distraught state under the Honda rig, being consoled by Jett Lawrence following his 450MX moto. Hymas had previously undergone surgery on his left knee following injuries in both 2023 and 2024.

“It was a rough day for me at High Point,” commented Hymas. “I went 5-3 in the motos, but on the last lap of the second moto, I dabbed my good leg, and now I’m dealing with a lot of pain in my right knee. I’ll be seeing the doctor Monday to get it checked out and figure out a game plan from there.”

Team manager for the Honda HRC Progressive team, Lars Lindstrom, has remained cautious in the aftermath of the incident, awaiting further confirmation from the scheduled evaluation before elaborating further.

“Unfortunately, we’ve had our fair share of these bittersweet days at the races,” explained Lindstrom. “It really kills me to see any of our riders have an injury like Chance did in the second moto, and we’re all really hoping for the best outcome with his right knee.”

Hymas qualified second in 250MX at High Point, entering the weekend after achieving a clean-sweep in the previous round at Thunder Valley. Fifth in the first moto and third in race two placed him fourth overall, and he currently sits P4 in the standings.
