Post-race in Denver following second-season 250SX podium.
Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki’s Garrett Marchbanks achieved his second 250SX West podium finish of the 2025 season in Denver on Saturday night, with momentum building during the latter stages of the championship. In this Fast Thoughts feature, Marchbanks details his season to date and the key puzzle pieces that have led to the recent run of results.
Third place result in Denver…
It felt good! I had a good couple of weeks after Philly – I always knew that I could podium, but I felt like I was riding good all day, honestly. I would have preferred to get a better start, but I didn’t even know that I was in third place until there was a lap to go, so that was a bit of a surprise, but I always knew that I was a top-three guy this season, so to finally have back to back podiums, I’m pretty happy with that.
The improvements made since the beginning of the season…
I felt really good during the first part of the year, just obviously the results weren’t showing. Then, after my practice crash after San Diego, I was dealing with a shoulder injury for quite some time, which got back to 100 percent during the break after Indy, and I really started to feel good. I switched trainers to Broc Tickle, and we worked on a lot of technique stuff, and I didn’t realize that I was lacking so much [in that area] until we started working on it. We started to make a lot of gains since then, with Seattle being a big jump for me to get back on the box, and I feel like the last six weeks have been a big jump [up], and two podiums have been really good.
Adjustments made to the motorcycle to suit Denver altitude…
The only thing we changed here was the sprockets, that was about it. Otherwise, it was the same as normal for us.
How Denver’s main event unfolded…
I was just trying to latch on to [Julien] Beaumer the whole race, we had a pretty good pace going and I was actually getting close to him in the last few laps, but had a close call with a lapper, which cost me some time. But like I said, I didn’t even know that I got third until the last lap, so that was a cool gift at the end there.
