250SX rookie back following early-season collarbone injury.
Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki’s Drew Adams returned to Supercross competition on Saturday night in Denver, racing to what was labelled a solid eighth-place finish in the 250SX West main event.
The rookie sustained a broken collarbone during qualifying at Glendale, before a quick surgery, and an attempt to race the following round in Arlington was unsuccessful.
Since then, Adams has remained on the sidelines, with both he and the team electing to return at full strength. The penultimate round of the season in Empower Field marked an appropriate return for the 17-year-old, who posted a consistent day to capture a top 10 finish.
“Overall, it was a solid day here in Denver – we cleaned a few things up and went P6 in qualifying, which was decent,” reflected Adams. “I grabbed third in the heat race, which was a good step forward.
“In the main, I got off to a decent start but made a couple of mistakes on the first lap and dropped back to 11th. I was able to make some passes and finished eighth. It felt good to be back, just shaking off the rust and looking to keep building for next week.”
Denver’s result marks a pair of eighth-place finishes – albeit three months between them – for Adams’ rookie 250SX West campaign, with a final round of racing at this weekend’s 250SX Showdown before the commencement of Pro Motocross on May 24.
