A lack of mid-season seat time is having an impact on Red Bull KTM’s Julien Beaumer, with the 250SX West title contender revealing that he remained off the bike between rounds five and six of the division while continuing to rehab a dislocated shoulder sustained in Arlington.

Beaumer picked up the injury during timed qualifying at the fifth round inside AT&T Stadium, having battled through the pain that night to secure a sixth place finish overall with a 6-8-4 scorecard.

Following a P7 result at this weekend’s Indianapolis 250SX East/West Showdown, the 17-year-old revealed that he had spent the last couple of weeks off the motorcycle while recovering from the injury.

“I’m happy with my night in Indy,” Beaumer explained. “Obviously I came in a little bit down, I haven’t ridden since Arlington, so to get P8 in the Showdown was a good night of salvaging points. We’ll get back into therapy this week, get back to 100 percent, and back on the bike before Seattle.”

Having held the red plate during the opening stages of the season, San Diego main event winner Beaumer has relinquished the series lead to title rival Haiden Deegan (Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing), with six points separating the duo as four rounds remain in the championship.
