Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki’s Cameron McAdoo was a late withdrawal from the Daytona 250SX East main event, with the team deciding it was time to fix a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) after the injury worsened throughout the night.

McAdoo tore his ACL in the week leading up to Tampa’s opening eastern regional round, and would race through the pain to a commendable podium finish on the night. A heavy hit at the second round in Detroit left the experienced racer with a DNF, alongside a black eye and broken teeth.

Despite qualifying for Daytona’s main event through the heat race, the team decided it was best for McAdoo to miss the race and repair the knee.

“Cameron hurt his knee worse, and we decided that was it,” commented team owner Mitch Payton. “He has tried to ride with it, but it’s bad and it needs to get fixed – it was swelling up [after the heat race], it’s looser and worse than it initially was so he’ll go get that fixed.”

It’s a tough blow to both McAdoo and the team, with the former considered a title challenger when healthy, and the latter plagued with a string of injuries that leaves just Garrett Marchbanks and Seth Hammaker as the remaining representatives of the five-rider roster.

With a recovery timeframe from between six to 12 months, it’s unclear where the injury leaves McAdoo for the 2025 Pro Motocross Championship, commencing May 24 at Fox Raceway.
