Currently P4 in 450SX standings following round four.
Despite already landing an overall podium in San Diego, Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing’s Cooper Webb admitted he was happy with his riding ‘for the first time all year’ after securing his first race victory of the season in Glendale.
Webb – who finished the night P2 overall – managed fifth and third in races two and three after some mid pack starts hindered his early track position.
“It was a great night for me, it really was, said Webb. “[I] got that first main event win, which was great, I fought hard that second one. I didn’t have a good start, fought hard, [and] last one fought hard.
“I was happy with my riding for the first time all year, so yeah, we got rewarded well for it. I’m stoked.”
The former two-time champion began the season with P4 at A1, before securing a podium in San Diego with third place. Although, A2 was a less promising outing as he was a lowly – by his standards – eighth place. Entering Glendale’s State Farm Stadium, Webb had never finished on the overall podium inside that particular venue.
On the post-race podium, Webb was vocal about the chatter he’d heard during the week, even calling out Ricky Carmichael, who had predicted he’d be P8 on the night.
“It’s been a rough go in this stadium,” Webb admitted. “[Ricky Carmichael] said I’d be the wildcard in eighth-place this wekend, so yeah man, I’ve heard it all week how I suck here. Everyone can shut up now.”
As Monster Energy Supercross heads East to Tampa for round five, Webb currently sits P4 in the 450SX standings, 10 markers back from points leader Chase Sexton.
