It was a big night for the Lawrence brothers as Jett Lawrence led home older brother Hunter Lawrence in the 450SX main event at Denver to claim a brotherly 1-2 finish for the first time in the history of Monster Energy Supercross. For Jett, it was his eighth win of the season as he now inches closer to claiming the 450SX crown in his rookie season.

The race began with Hunter getting the holeshot and leading the first half of the race. Jett was quick to move into second and the Team Honda HRC teammates worked on getting away from the rest of the field. Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing’s Eli Tomac was right behind them in third place before he fell and slid down to 10th.

Jett eventually passed Hunter for the lead just past the halfway point of the main event. Hunter never really let his brother go as the two stayed quite close the rest of the way home. But it was Jett Lawrence who would take the win with Hunter right behind. A not so distant third was Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Jason Anderson for the second round in a row as he was only five seconds back at the flag.

Justin Barcia had another strong race on his Troy Lee Designs Red Bull GasGas as he rode to a solid fourth place finish. Meanwhile, it was another rough round for Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing’s Cooper Webb who ended up fifth and likely saw the championship slip away at this point. Jett Lawrence now sits 20 points up on Webb with one round to go and only 25 points left on the table.

Behind him, it was teammate Justin Cooper who came home in P6 ahead of Rockstar Energy Husqvarna’s Malcolm Stewart, Red Bull KTM’s Chase Sexton, Phoenix Racing Honda’s Dylan Ferrandis, and the aforementioned Tomac down in P10.

Jett Lawrence now is in the driver’s seat as he just needs a 17th place finish at the finale no matter what Cooper Webb does to claim this 450SX title. Everyone else beside those two are now mathematically eliminated and it all comes down to whether Jett can close this thing off or not.
