In a thrilling fight to the end, Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing’s Cooper Webb was victorious again in Foxborough. The two-time champion’s fourth win of the 2024 season brought the championship fight between he and Jett Lawrence to a dead heat atop the championship standings with four rounds now remaining.

It was a hard fought win for Webb who led from the start but dealt with pressure from Red Bull KTM’s Chase Sexton and Progressive Ecstar Suzuki’s Ken Roczen nearly the whole way. Roczen ran second for 15 minutes of the main event holding Sexton behind him before the defending champion was able to get by aboard his Red Bull KTM. Sexton then closed up to Webb in a fight for the win, but Webb remained resilient all the way to the flag as he won by less than a second in the end. Roczen would finish up right behind both of them to round out the podium.

The fight for fourth place was also close at the end as Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Jason Anderson rode a somewhat lonely race in the position for much of the main event. But Honda HRC’s Jett Lawrence brought his championship leading Honda from a bad start to be right on Anderson as the checkered flag waved. Despite nearly making the pass in the last corner, Anderson held on for fourth with Lawrence left to round out the top five.

Eli Tomac brought it home in sixth place aboard his Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing machine after sliding out in the top 10 early on. He would finish up ahead of Hunter Lawrence (Honda HRC), Justin Cooper (Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing), Justin Hill (Team Tedder KTM), and Malcolm Stewart (Rockstar Energy Husqvarna) rounding out the top 10.

Both Webb and Lawrence now sit on 261 points each as the title fight heats up heading into Nashville next week. Chase Sexton is 15 points off the lead and still hanging on to the championship fight with his second place finish on the night. This is going to be an all out sprint from here on out to Salt Lake City.
