Brazilian Enzo Lopes’ debut with Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing has been delayed, continuing to recover from injury that will sideline him from Saturday’s opening round of 250SX East in Detroit.

Lopes has been dealing with an arm injury during the pre-season, now instead expected to line up at the Arlington round on 24 February.

“Riding for Star Racing comes with a lot of expectations, especially after my momentum from last season,” Lopes explained. “Unfortunately, the cards we were dealt with this off-season were out of our control.

“With that, we agreed on missing round one so that I can be back to 100 percent by Arlington. I am super-bummed, but I know in the long run this will be the best decision for me and also the team.”

While Lopes is out alongside teammate Stilez Robertson – who also is recovering from multiple surgeries on his wrist – the Star Racing team will field Haiden Deegan, Daxton Bennick and Nick Romano will all be on the eastern region.
