Scans have revealed a broken metacarpal bone in Adam Cianciarulo’s left hand, which will keep him sidelined heading into Detroit’s fifth round of the 2024 Monster Energy Supercross Championship.

Cianciarulo had gone 12-8-13 across the opening three rounds of the season, but sat out Anaheim 2 with ongoing effects from the injury initially sustained at round one.

“I got an MRI on Monday and confirmed what I thought I already knew – I broke my fourth metacarpal in my left hand at Anaheim 1,” said Cianciarulo. “It’s a good thing we had a couple of mud races at San Francisco and San Diego, but on a dry track at high speed I wasn’t able to do it this past weekend.

“So, I will not be racing in Detroit, doctors orders right now. It’s kind of a week-by-week basis, we got really lucky that it didn’t displace. Other than that, life is good, we’re chilling, training and we’ll be back real soon.”

While Monster Energy Kawasaki rider Cianciarulo will miss his second-straight round, it’s expected that he will be fit to return in the coming weeks. He’s currently positioned 14th in the 450SX championship standings.
