Defending 450SX champion Chase Sexton has switched his career number to four ahead of next season, the American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) has confirmed in announcing the 2024 AMA Supercross and Pro Motocross rider number list.

Sexton – upon departing Team Honda HRC – will move from his customary 23 to the high-profile single digit of four, however, will wear the number one in Monster Energy Supercross throughout his title defense.

Next year’s numbering system also sees the addition of Jett Lawrence and Haiden Deegan to wear the number one plates during the SuperMotocross World Championship (SMX) Finals series, while Lawrence will use the number one in Pro Motocross after dominating 450MX as a rookie this year.

Additional new career numbers for 2024 include Deegan securing 38, while Levi Kitchen also earned a career number and opted for 47 upon his transfer to Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki. Former racers who no longer hold career numbers include Ryan Dungey (5), Zach Osborne (16), Broc Tickle (20), Chad Reed (22) and Alex Martin (26).

Notably, Fredrik Noren will take charge of the famed 22 for next year, while Grant Harlan was in position to use the number 23. The number 13 will once again be absent from the field in 2024.
