Triumph Racing has signed Joey Savatgy to its US line-up that will launch from 2024, stepping back to a 250 for next season outdoors and then returning to the premier class when the brand enters a 450 in 2025.

Savatgy, 29, revealed on Monday’s PulpMX Show that he has put pen to paper to join Triumph in a two-year factory contract, with the brand to only compete in the 250 class in 2024 before contesting the 450 class also the year after.

As a result, Savatgy is only scheduled to contest the Pro Motocross Championship and SuperMotocross World Championship (SMX) post-season next year, since he’d already previously pointed out of the quarter-liter class in Monster Energy Supercross without winning a 250SX title.

“It’s a two-year deal with Triumph, motocross next year and 450 the following year,” Savatgy confirmed. “The bike is awesome. I’ve been riding it, I’ve been doing some testing on it, and every time I’ve ridden the bike and we’ve had sessions, it’s gotten better.”

With Bobby Hewitt (team principal) and Steve Westfall (team manager) heavily involved with the Triumph Racing project, Savatgy will benefit from familiar surroundings as he looks to achieve strong results for the manufacturer entering the series.

Savatgy won the final round of the World Supercross Championship (WSX) last year with Rick Ware Racing and, after finishing second in the championship last year, he was also second at the opening round of 2023 in Birmingham. Additionally, he competed in 450SX races earlier this season onboard a Kawasaki, but injured his wirst in Arlington.
