A victory in moto two in The Netherlands secured Kawasaki Racing Team’s Romain Febvre the overall victory at the 16th round of 2023 the MXGP World Championship, marking his sixth GP win of the season, as consistency prevailed for Liam Everts to take the round win in MX2 at Arnhem.
Qualifying race winner Febvre went 2-1 at the Dutch round to secure the round spoils by four points ahead of Red Bull GasGas Factory Racing’s Jorge Prado, the red plate-holder notching a 1-4 scorecard for second overall.
Notably, Febvre was looking good for victory in the opening race before a stone jammed his rear sprocket. He was able to get going again in P3.
Winner last time out in Sweden, Jeremy Seewer (Monster Energy Yamaha) completed the round podium thanks to 3-2 scores, suffering a fall in moto one while challenging Prado for the lead. He led teammate Glenn Coldenhoff in fourth (4-3) and Tim Gajser (Team HRC) who was inside the top five with 5-5 finishes.
Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Jeffrey Herlings was forced to the sidelines after he, unfortunately, suffered a fractured right collarbone during free practice.
Prado still holds a healthy advantage in the 2023 MXGP World Championship standings, 92 points ahead of Febvre as three rounds remain.

Consistency prevailed for Liam Everts in MX2, notching a pair of podium finishes to emerge on top in terms of the overall classification in The Netherlands.
Everts’ (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) winning scorecard was 3-2 at Arnhem, with Nestaan Husqvarna Factory Racing’s Lucas Coenen elevating to second for the round after a victory in moto two. The number 96 also won the qualifying race but was sixth in race one after remounting down the order from a fall.
Red Bull GasGas Factory Racing’s Simon Laengenfelder won the opening bout, but a P6 finish in race two saw him third for the round, leading the returning Jago Geerts (Monster Energy Yamaha) who went 4-3 for fourth and championship leader Andrea Adamo (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) who was P5 courtesy of 2-5 scores.
Adamo still holds a commanding lead in the 2023 MX2 World Championship, 72 points ahead of Everts leading into the next round in Turkey.
The Women’s Motocross World Championship returned to action in The Netherlands, with Lotte Van Drunen going 1-1 to take a commanding overall victory.
GasGas-mounted Daniela Guillen was P2 for the round with 3-2 finishes, as Lynn Valk (Fantic) completed the podium places with a 2-4 scorecard. Championship leader Courtney Duncan (Kawasaki) landed P4 overall in The Netherlands courtesy of 4-3 finishes.
