Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Jeffrey Herlings claimed his 101st-career victory after winning the MXGP World Championship round in Portugal on Sunday, as Jago Geerts extended his advantage in MX2.

Saturday saw Team HRC’s Ruben Fernandez win the qualifying race, before on Sunday 3-1 results were enough for Herlings to stand atop the Agueda podium.

The five-time world champion was joined by Romain Febvre (Kawasaki Racing Team) after he posted consistent 3-2 scores, with red plate-holder and second moto winner Jorge Prado (Red Bull GasGas Factory Racing) completing the podium to maintain a 17-point lead in the standings over Herlings.

Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MX2’s Jago Geerts rode to a perfect double-race win at the fifth round, as the Belgian strengthened his position at the top of the MX2 World Championship standings and now leads by 36 points.

Geerts made it a sweep of the weekend in winning on Saturday and again in both motos on Sunday, with Nestaan Husqvarna Factory Racing duo Kay de Wolf (3-2) and Roan van de Moosdijk (4-3) standing alongside him on the podium. The series will be on track again in Spain this weekend, 6-7 May, at intu Xanadu – Arroyomolinos.
