250SX West challengers Cameron McAdoo and Jett Lawrence have recalled that dramatic heat-race clash which fortunately saw each avoid major injury and later be able to complete the night third and first respectively.

While battling for second in heat two, the pair collided in a rhythm lane and as result, both riders were brought down in spectacular fashion. Lawrence was visibly frustrated after the incident, but able to remount and directly transfer to the main with a second-place finish.

“It was definitely a wild heat race, but thankfully, we both came out of it okay,” Lawrence explained. “I landed on his bike, and thankfully, I just clipped his peg with my buttcheek and it didn’t go anywhere else. I think we both came out of it okay, bikes were pretty banged up, they get pretty hammered when bikes collide, so thankfully we were okay.”

Likewise, McAdoo still managed to hold a solid transfer position and took the checkered flag fourth in heat two, crediting his Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki team for ensuring he had a good package for the main despite the incident.

“For the most part I was good, I obviously got hit in the chin pretty decent and I beat up one of my fingers – I don’t really know how bad it is at this point yet, super swollen,” McAdoo said. “Obviously just a real bummer situation with what happened, and my bike was very mangled.

“When I got back up I was like ‘man, this is going to be tough to finish the race’, but the boys got to work with it and got it good for the main event.”

Lawrence later went on to win the 250SX West final in Lumen Field, while McAdoo concluded the night in third. In terms of the championship standings, the Australian holds a comfortable 23-point red plate-advantage ahead of RJ Hampshire (Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing), while McAdoo sits third and a further three points outside from the lead.
