Anderson and Lawrence set Arlington qualifying pace

The fields are set for tonight's second Triple Crown round.

Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Jason Anderson and Honda HRC’s Hunter Lawrence will have first pick of the gates for tonight’s seventh round of the AMA Supercross Championship after posting the fastest qualifying times at Arlington.

Anderson came out swinging in the second 450SX qualifying session to take the fastest lap-time from both sessions with a searing time of 46.280 seconds.

In a session that saw the top nine riders separated by less than 0.7 seconds, Progressive Insurance Ecstar Suzuki’s Ken Roczen crossed the line with a second-fastest time, ahead of first session-winner Chase Sexton (Honda HRC).

Championship leader Eli Tomac (Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing) and contender Cooper Webb (Red Bull KTM) finished fourth and fifth.

Christian Craig (Rockstar Energy Husqvarna), Dean Wilson (Fire Power Honda), Yamaha privateer Benny Bloss, Joe Savatgy (Rick Ware Racing), and Aaron Plessinger (Red Bull KTM) filled positions sixth through to 10th.

Hunter Lawrence has again established himself as the favourite for tonight’s finals posting the fastest qualifying time in the 250SX East divison.

Lawrence was the only 250SX rider to drop beneath the 47-second mark, with a 46.747 lap, almost half a second quicker than Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing’s Nate Thrasher (47.145s).

Fire Power Honda’s Max Anstie put in a concerted push late in the second session to finish the third-quickest.

Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing’s Jordon Smith, and Muc-Off FXR ClubMX Yamaha’s Jeremy Martin finished fourth and fifth, as Michael Mosiman (TLD Red Bull GasGas), Tom Vialle (Red Bull KTM), Chris Blose (Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki), Chance Hymas (Honda HRC), and Haiden Deegan (Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing) completed the top 10 qualifiers.
