Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki’s Cameron McAdoo said ‘there wasn’t much to’ his contact with Pierce Brown in Oakland, which saw the TLD Red Bull GasGas rider fall from podium contention in the 250SX West main event.

While battling for third, McAdoo made a move up the inside of Brown – who had just made a move on McAdoo for position – following a whoops section, standing the number 33 up and running him high with the pair coming together in the process.

“It was kind of one of those things where we were going… I think that lap, I’m not sure if I went outside and skimmed the first section, but it was kind of a back-and-forth for me whether it was faster to jump the whoops or skim them – I usually skim them as long as I possibly can,” McAdoo explained.

“He got me the turn before, I think I kind of ran him high in the turn after the whoops into the dragon’s back. Then I assumed he fell over, because I didn’t have him behind me afterwards. But yeah, that was about that was, there wasn’t much to it.”

McAdoo continued and finished the race third, while Brown was able to remount, but dropped to fifth in the closing stages following another crash. It was one of his most convincing performances of the season to date.

“Oakland was another tough night,” Brown said. “I feel like the riding was there, I just didn’t put it all together. I had a decent start in the main and was waiting for a spot to make a pass. I made a pass for third, and then McAdoo got me back and put me on the ground.

“I got back up in fifth, passed back into fourth, and on the last lap fell again and ended up in fifth. It’s not the night we needed and I’m pretty upset about it, but on to Seattle. We have a long break before that, so we’re just going to reset and get back to work.”

In the 250SX West standings, McAdoo was able to rebound from a bruising Anaheim 2 but drops to third, 21 points from red plate-holder Lawrence as Brown is P9 after banking 18 at RingCentral Coliseum.
