Free practice is complete at RedBud on qualifying day at the 2022 Monster Energy Motocross of Nations (MXoN), with Jorge Prado (MXGP), Justin Cooper (MX2) and Jett Lawrence (Open) topping the time-sheets.

First up this morning was the MXGP category, where Italian talent Prado posted a 1m56.552s to lead Team USA’s Eli Tomac by 0.474s and open the weekend.

Slotting into P3 was Jeremy Seewer (Switzerland), followed by Jago Geerts (Belgium) in his first 450 appearance and Maxime Renaux (France). The Netherlands’ Glenn Coldenhoff was next in line, ahead of Mitch Evans (Australia) and Tony Cairoli (Italy).

The MX2 session was next on track and American Justin Cooper led the way with a 1m59.624s, half a second clear of Jo Shimoda (Japan) and the only rider beneath the 2m00s bracket.

Directly behind Cooper and Shimoda came another AMA regular in Hunter Lawrence (Australia), with first of the Europeans being Kay de Wolf (The Netherlands) in fourth position. Experienced Frenchman Marvin Musquin slotted into P5.

In the Open class, Jett Lawrence made his debut on a 450 and promptly got up to speed as the Australian teenager recorded a 1m59.016s to set the early benchmark.

Lawrence edged Chase Sexton (USA) by 0.343s, with Ruben Fernandez (Spain) also lapping within the same second in third place. Returning from a back injury, Dylan Ferrandis (France) was fourth, followed by Calvin Vlaanderan (The Netherlands) to complete the top five.
