Eighth overall at Budds Creek was Hunter Lawrence’s lowest 250MX point haul of the season, with the Team Honda HRC rider attributing the result to four crashes across round 10.

The elder Lawrence brother was buried down in 34th during the opening stages of moto one at the Maryland circuit, but charged his way up to 13th by lap six.

Unfortunately, a fall shortly after set him back, but he was able to regroup and work his way up to ninth by race end. Lawrence held down sixth to commence the second moto before further incidents ultimately saw him finish the bout P9.

“Really tough day. I felt like the riding was really good, but if there’s anything that prevented me from having a good result, I probably could point at the four crashes. [laughs] I think that may have had something to do with it. We’ll go back, keep training, keep pushing, and we’ve got to come back next weekend and the following weekend to finish out strong.”

Scoring 29 points at Budds Creek, Lawrence was relegated to third in 250MX as a strong day from Jo Shimoda saw him leapfrog the number 96 in the standings. The series now moves to Ironman Raceway this Saturday for its penultimate round, where Lawrence will look to add to his three victories and 11 podium finishes achieved to date in the 2022 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross season.
