Honda Genuine Honda Racing has confirmed its SX2 entries for the 2022 World Supercross Championship (WSX) with the signing of Max Anstie and Wilson Todd.

Anstie has a wealth of experience in professional motocross and supercross, recently completing a three-race stint in the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship.

Riding for Yarrive Konsky’s Fire Power Honda team, the English rider scored a P6 finish in 450MX at Southwick and has shown front-running potential throughout the nationals contested.

“I’m very excited to be racing for Yarrive, Martin [Davalos] and the Honda Genuine Honda Racing team competing for an FIM-sanctioned world championship,” Anstie said. “It’s the chance of a lifetime, and I’m thrilled to be a part of a race team with a rich history in the sport.

“Growing up in England, I dreamt of competing in front of my friends, family and thousands of die-hard supercross fans, and now I have that opportunity in Cardiff, so I’ll be ready to take advantage and am looking forward to competing.”

The WSX opportunity allows Todd to recommence his international career, returning to Australia for 2022 after aging out of MX2 in the MXGP World Championship.

Notably, there is no age limit for SX2 in WSX, and the Queenslander-based rider is on a great run of form domestically having won all but one of the MX2 motos contested to date in the Penrite ProMX Championship.

“We’re excited to get our SX2 riders locked in as we embark on this unprecedented global competition in the FIM World Supercross Championship and believe Max and Wilson will compete at the highest level and provide our team with a chance to claim a World Supercross Championship,” said Honda Genuine Honda Racing team owner Konsky.

“Max and Wilson are consummate professionals who will lead by example and provide our team the necessary tenacity and experience to compete on a global level. We’re excited about the prospects of our two WSX riders and believe they will solidify a formidable line-up to compete in the FIM World Supercross Championship.”

The team is yet to reveal its 450 riders for the upcoming season, set to commence in Cardiff, Wales, at Principality Stadium on 8 October. An announcement confirming the Australian GP at Marvel Stadium to host round two between 21-22 October is expected shortly.
