Fifth overall at Hangtown is a positive sign of improvement for Red Bull KTM Factory Racing teenager Max Vohland in 250MX and a timely boost following a disastrous Monster Energy Supercross campaign earlier in the year.

Vohland’s 2022 250SX East campaign ended prematurely due to a thumb injury sustained in training after Atlanta, which marked his second injury of the season as he cracked his collarbone at Minneapolis which also forced him to the sidelines.

Hitting the reset button ahead of the first round of 2022 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross at Fox Raceway, Vohland just missed the top 10 overall with P11 before landing improved 7-5 results at Hangtown.

“Today went great, I got fifth overall on the day and I’m sitting eighth in points now, only five points behind the next two guys in front of me, so I’m sitting in a pretty good spot,” Vohland said.

“I definitely improved on starts from last weekend, which helped a lot. I was right up front in that second moto off the start and I rode good. I just need to make a little more improvement, work a little harder this week and keep building that base.”

The next chance for Vohland to continue his push forwards comes this Saturday at Thunder Valley which is the third of 12 rounds on the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship calendar.
