Supercross standout Jason Anderson displayed potential beyond his sixth-place result at Fox Raceway on the weekend, forced to fight his way through the pack from early mishaps in both 450MX motos.

Anderson starred in Monster Energy Supercross with seven main event wins and P2 in points, carrying that form over into Lucas Oil Pro Motocross at round one.

The Monster Energy Kawasaki rider stunned in moto one as he sliced his way through the pack from a lowly 17th at the end of lap one to eventually claim fourth, before a fall on lap one of the second outing meant he had to charge through from the rear to eighth position.

“It was a tough one out there today,” the 29-year-old said. “The field is packed with talent this year and having to overcome two bad starts is certainly not ideal…

“On the bright side, we still managed both races pretty well and earned a good result. I’m going to stay in California to work with the team for now and get my starts dialed so we have a better chance at battling for wins and podiums.”

Anderson’s best result in the 450 class standings outdoors was fourth in 2019, with his most recent podium being second at Loretta Lynn’s in 2020 – including the first moto victory.

Last year’s Pro Motocross series lasted just one round for Anderson while part of the Rockstar Energy Husqvarna team, landing sixth overall in Pala before a broken hand effectively ended his campaign altogether.
