Defending 250MX champion Jett Lawrence enters the 2022 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship with a different mentality after claiming his maiden professional title last year.

The 18-year-old had a stellar outdoor campaign one year ago, taking four overall victories and a multitude of race wins on route to clinching the number one plate.

Both Jett and Team Honda HRC teammate Hunter Lawrence will be equipped with the 2022 CRF250R for the upcoming 250MX season, the revamped platform proving capable of winning in Monster Energy Supercross. As a result, it’s been a seamless transition into motocross.

“Nothing really different from last year, yeah its a new bike, but we already showed, Hunter and I in Supercross, that it is a really good bike,” Lawrence explained.

“Last year it was more so of a ‘let’s see where my speed is at and if I have a title at this title or not’. Where this year, it is more so, ‘I know I am capable of winning another championship, but let’s see if I can put it together’. I’m excited to see how this bike is, we have been doing some testing and it’s feeling great and should be good.”

Lawrence backed up his 250MX title success by winning the 2022 250SX East title with a round to spare at Foxborough. He was unable to contest the Salt Lake City finals after injuring his ankle while practising at Rice-Eccles Stadium and provided an update on his condition ahead of Fox Raceway this Saturday.

“It was a little bit of a bump in the road, it was a bit of a sprain, but we are back,” he confirmed. “It’s still a little bit annoying every know and then… we will be good, we will be fine for the outdoors.”
