Shane McElrath will represent Rockstar Husqvarna Factory Racing in the first four rounds of the 2022 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship, temporarily replacing the injured Dean Wilson in 450MX.

Wilson suffered a fall at St. Louis that required multiple surgeries and brought an end to his Monster Energy Supercross campaign, as McElrath was unable to complete the 2022 450SX season due to the Rocky Mountain ATV/MC-KTM-WPS team folding, which left him in search of a seat.

“Words can’t describe my excitement for a chance to ride the Rockstar Energy Husqvarna,” McElrath explained. “I’ve been training hard and have been hoping to get an opportunity to race some outdoors and I’m grateful that the team is giving me that opportunity! Outdoors is coming quick and I’m ready to get to work alongside this great group of people!”

Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing team manager Nathan Ramsey added: “In a tough situation like this, I feel very fortunate to have an option like Shane to be able to turn to. I believe that Shane has tremendous talent and experience, and he will be a great asset to the Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing Team. I am very excited and confident with Shane to start our MX season.”

McElrath has achieved 250MX victories in the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross, and will join Malcolm Stewart in representing the team on an FC 450 Rockstar Edition for the opening rounds.
