A crash during the first timed practice at Indianapolis resulted in an early exit from round 11 of Monster Energy Supercross for Shane McElrath, the Team Rocky Mountain ATV/MC rider to get further checks this week.

The fall caused McElrath to injure his knee while hitting his head hard on the ground, and was a disappointing blow for the 450 SX-F rider after he achieved a season-best result of seventh the week prior in Detroit.

“Crashed in the first timed practice and hit my head pretty good and hurt my knee,” McElrath shared. “Got a big kick going onto the tabletop and was just trying to save that one and the step off was just a little bit too big to make it off. Going to get checked out this week and hopefully get back to work.”

It’s not confirmed whether McElrath will compete this Saturday in Seattle, the number 12 currently 11th in the 450SX points standings with just six rounds remaining in the 2022 series.
