A near-podium in his hometown race at Hangtown marked a highlight for rookie of the year Max Vohland in the final Pro Motocross race of his first season.

The season ended the way it started for the young Red Bull KTM rider, with him near the front of the pack. This time, on home soil and able to bring home 5-4 scores for fourth overall, his second top five.

Crowned rookie of the year for the 2021 season, Vohland was elated to capture his best finish of the year in front of his home crowd.

“I definitely learned a lot this season,” Vohland reflected. “I had a lot of ups and downs, which is pretty typical for a rookie, but to come out here and get fourth and be super close to the podium in front of this hometown crowd is amazing! I’m super honored and this is a big accomplishment for me.”

Vohland ended the season ninth overall, notching four top 10 finishes in Pro Motocross. While it was cut short by injury, he showed plenty of promise in his debut Supercross season, taking three top-10’s with a best finish of sixth.

He’ll head into the off-season with experience to reflect and grow on as he enters year two with Red Bull KTM in 2022.
