Joey Savatgy has opted out of this weekend’s Lucas Oil Pro Motocross final round at Hangtown, with Team Rocky Mountain ATV/MC KTM calling in privateer Kevin Moranz for tomorrow.

Savatgy hasn’t been at 100 percent during the final stages of the outdoor season, planning to undergo tests this week and deciding to sit out round 12.

“Unfortunately Pala was the last round of Pro Motocross for me,” Savatgy stated. “Got sick after Washougal and haven’t felt right since – getting blood work done to figure out what exactly is going on and answers as to why I feel like I do.

“I want to be 100 percent and give my best effort for my team and that’s not possible right now. Thank you to the team and my fans for supporting me when things aren’t great. [In] 2022 I’ll be back.”

Savatgy is currently eighth in the 450MX standings with a series of top 10 results in recent rounds despite not being at full-strength. As for Moranz, he was 16th at Fox Raceway last weekend and is excited for the opportunity that has arisen at late notice.

“So something happened today – humbled and honored for the opportunity at Team RMATVMC,” Moranz confirmed. “Time to go have some fun, see what kind of start we can get on this badass machine and send it

“This is not just for me… this for every single person, company, family, friend and fan that has stepped up for me over my career. It’s because of you I am here. Yes, it’s just a fill-in for one round, but best believe I’m leaving it all out on that track for you.”
