Monster Energy Star Racing Yamaha rider Colt Nichols will remain sidelined this weekend as he continues to recover from his crash at Washougal nearly a month ago.

Nichols escaped major injury in the incident that kept him out round eight of the 2021 Pro Motocross season, the lingering effects now hindering his ability to compete at Budds Creek this weekend.

“I gave riding another shot this week but my shoulder just simply is not where it needs to be yet for Budds Creek,” Nichols explained. “As soon as the strength is back to be competitive I’ll be back out there, hopefully, sooner than later.”

Prior to the injury, Nichols had seen ups and downs in results throughout the first seven rounds of the championship, finishing as high as fourth place overall at High Point.

The reigning 250SX East champion will continue to recover in hopes to rejoin the series for the final three rounds of the season, his next opportunity being Ironman on 28 August.
