Jo Shimoda has confirmed that he’s uninjured following a collision with a trackside barrier that ended his second moto at the eighth round of the Pro Motocross season at Unadilla.

The Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki rider was on a charge through the field after a dismal start in the final moto of round eight of the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross season when he caught a trackside barrier with his handlebar.

While the incident didn’t cause him to crash, most of the impact was made with his hand forcing him to pull off the track. Unable to grip the bar, Shimoda’s moto ended there with a suspected hand injury which he later confirmed to be uninjured.

“Except the starts, speed and fitness were good,” Shimoda explained. “But on the second moto, I hit my hand on the barrier and couldn’t hang on to the bike to finish the moto. Luckily nothing is broken just in pain.”

The Japanese rider has shown he’s got the speed to run at the front of the field, but starts have hindered his chances at the last two rounds.

With a best result this season of second at Southwick, Shimoda will look to return to the podium this weekend as the series continues at Budds Creek on Saturday.
