Pierce Brown notched a career-best finish in his first visit to Washougal, giving him a boost as the series enters a two-week break.

After an up and down start to his second season of Lucas Oil Pro Motocross, Brown had what could be considered a breakout day at round seven in Washougal.

Putting himself up front in both motos, Brown kept himself in the lead pack and was able to notch 6-4 finishes for both his best moto finish and his best overall with fifth place on the day.

“This is my first visit here and it went really well, I’m stoked,” Brown explained. “I loved the track all day long and I was really happy with the whole day.

“First moto, I ended up sixth but it was a big improvement from how the last couple rounds have gone so I just used that to fuel the fire for the second moto.

“In the first couple laps, I was up there in the mix with all the boys so that was cool. It was my best moto finish and best overall yet, so I’m going to use these next couple weeks off to keep the momentum going.”

After getting his season underway with back-to-back finishes in 15th overall, Brown made progress, notching two top 10s just before the halfway point.

With a tough go Spring Creek that saw him involved in a big crash and eventual second moto DNF, the top five at Washougal was a welcomed result as the series now takes two weekends off.
