Monster Energy Star Racing Yamaha’s amateur standout Levi Kitchen looked promising in his Pro Motocross debut at RedBud, taking a top 10 in the opening moto.

In the twilight of his amateur career with just one race left at Loretta Lynn’s in a few weeks, Kitchen lined up to gain experience ahead of joining the series full time for the last five rounds.

After qualifying 14th overall, the rookie came out swinging in the opening moto taking home ninth place. While moto two didn’t go his way as he ended up 19th, he was pleased with his first go in the pro ranks.

“I’m glad to get my first National out of the way,” Kitchen explained. “I’m pretty happy with the way my day went, I came here to learn, and I feel that’s what I accomplished.

“The track was a little tricky but a lot of fun! I’m already looking forward to my next one.”

Kitchen now turns his attention to Loretta Lynn’s Amateur National, where he’s a favorite in both Pro Sport classes in what will be his final amateur race.

Last year, the 20-year-old notched six wins in six motos at the famed race, taking home both 450 and 250 B Limited class championships.

At the conclusion of Loretta’s Kitchen will rejoin the Star Racing team for the final five Pro Motocross races of the season starting at Unadilla on 14 August.
