Austin Forkner continues to face adversity as he returns to Pro Motocross for the first time since 2018, notching 20-12 moto scores at RedBud now looking to regroup heading to round five at Southwick.

After injury knocked him out of the entire Monster Energy Supercross season, Forkner’s 2021 continued in frustration at RedBud, with a tip-over in moto one resulting in a 20th in moto one.

“I always love coming to RedBud,” Forkner explained. “Between the track and the fans, it’s a fun experience. Today I just didn’t find what I needed to be at the front with those guys.

“I will regroup this week and keep focusing on what’s ahead to try and give my team a good result.”

The Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki rider has been critical of his performance, sharing his thoughts on his performance at Thunder Valley following the Colorado round.

“Pala was ok some little mistakes and speed wasn’t quite there,” he explained. “I didn’t show up to Colorado, I mean the 38 bike was out there but I don’t know who was riding it, because that race was terrible.”

While he found speed and set some of the fastest laps of the weekend to finish sixth overall at High Point’s round three, his 16th overall in round four was his worst finish of the season.

Forkner will look to capture his first top-five finish of the season this Saturday in the sand, as the series returns to Southwick.
