Marvin Musquin’s tough start to the opening quarter of the 2021 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship continued at RedBud’s round four, blowing out a wheel in an incident on the famed Lorocco’s Leap.

Musquin came into the round looking to rebound, having not cracked the top five in the opening three rounds of the season. In the opening moto, however, Musquin broke a wheel causing a DNF.

In a seemingly rare occurrence, his issue didn’t happen while trying to triple the feature, but while jumping from the landing into the corner.

“It was definitely a rough day,” Musquin explained. “Unfortunately, I broke the wheel launching the single over LaRocco’s Leap (not going triple but double-single) and I landed hard on the single so I had to DNF, which is really bad.”

The Frenchman was able to salvage a start from the very outside of the gate in moto two, eventually coming home in seventh to take 14th overall on the day.

“In the second moto, I knew it was going to be hard to get a good start,” he continued. “I did my best and tried to rail the berm on the outside and put myself in the top-10 on the first lap.

“I came back to seventh and I had a better feeling in the second moto but I’m looking forward to going back to Southwick and putting his one behind me.”

Musquin sits 10th overall in the standings as he continues to search for his first top-five of the season, with his next opportunity coming this Saturday, 10 July at Southwick.
