Monster Energy Star Racing Yamaha has announced that Jeremy Martin will return to Pro Motocross action this weekend at RedBud.

After a shoulder injury put him out for the entire Monster Energy Supercross season, Martin revealed that he’d been racing with a broken scaphoid bone in his wrist as he returned to action for the start of the 2021 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross championship.

While the status of the injury is unknown, Martin is now slated to return this Saturday and will have had four weeks to rest and recover ahead of his return, only missing one round of racing.

After notching 1-2-1 finishes in the opening three motos of the season, Martin crashed charging through the pack in the fourth moto, later revealing the injury.

“I’ve been managing a scaphoid fracture on my left wrist for months and a bum left shoulder,” Martin explained. “I still felt like I could be competitive to win races and contend for this outdoor championship. Unfortunately, stuff happens, and it’s time to get healthy!”

The Minnesota rider came into the season as the only returning champion in the 250 class and was a favorite in the championship after being reunited with the YZ250F and team that propelled him to back-to-back titles in 2014 and 2015.

Martin still sits eighth in the overall standings, 60 points back from Jett Lawrence (Team Honda HRC) at the front. He’ll take to the track Saturday, 3 July, from the famed RedBud MX in Buchanan, Michigan.
