Current 250MX points leader Jett Lawrence is beginning to focus on the championship as he looks for the balance between stacking points and stacking wins as the 2021 Pro Motocross series wears on.

In just his second season of Pro Motocross, the 2020 rookie of the year in the series has found his footing, finishing in the top two overall at the first three rounds.

With that, the young Australian is beginning to focus on the long game while he’s on track as he looks to make a bid for the 250 championship, finding balance between collecting wins and points when necessary.

“In the second moto, I got a better start and made my way to second,” Lawrence explained following round three at High Point. “I had a few goes at the leader but was kind of in no man’s land.

“It was too much to try and put an attack on, but I had heaps of room behind me, so I ended up playing it safe and gained one point this weekend, which is always good.”

Lawrence admitted following the race that he’s focusing on continuing to progress as the series goes on and gain points to maintain what is now an 11 point lead over Justin Cooper (Monster Energy Star Racing Yamaha) in the championship.

“I’m trying to make gains, so overall it was a good weekend for me in my eyes, for not having such a great day of riding,” he continued. “Hopefully, we can just carry this onto RedBud, get a few wins and keep this train going.”

The series continues this Saturday, 3 July, where Lawrence will look to capture his first win at the famed RedBud MX and continue to maintain the red plate into the second quarter of the season.
