After what has been a rocky start to the season, Marvin Musquin found some shock settings for his Red Bull KTM that allowed him to work forward for his best moto finish of the season at High Point.

Three rounds into the 2021 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross championship, Musquin has been consistently within the top 10, but has yet to find the pace to break into the top five.

After his lowest moto finish of the season in the opening moto of round three, Musquin battled to work his way forward in moto two, eventually taking seventh.

“In the first moto, the start was decent but the riding was not good enough and the feeling was not good enough,” Musquin explained. “We decided to go back to some old settings on the shock and it shows, it was definitely better in the second moto.

“I didn’t get a good start but I was able to fight back, attack, and race hard to come back to seventh place, so that was a lot better. Overall, I’m obviously not happy because we’ve been working hard and it didn’t pay off for this weekend, so we need to keep going.”

The rear shock has been under constant development for KTM in 2021, as they continue to work on their WP air shock. Musquin’s teammate opted to move away from the air shock for what would become a championship season in Supercross, while the Frenchman continued to develop it.

It appears now that Musquin has reverted to the traditional spring shock as he looks to find is way back to the sharp end of the 450 class. He’ll now have a weekend off to continue to progress ahead of RedBud on 3 July.
