Monster Energy Star Racing Yamaha’s Jeremy Martin has revealed he has been racing with a fractured scaphoid bone in his wrist after crashing out in Colorado.

Martin won the opening moto in a continuation of his outdoor form since being reunited with the YZ250F, however, his season is now up in the air.

While the extent of the 28-year-old two-time 250MX champion’s injury isn’t yet confirmed, he was already recovering from a shoulder injury sustained in the Orlando 2 round of Monster Energy Supercross, in addition to the scaphoid fracture.

“We had a great first moto, but unfortunately I crashed in moto two and was unable to finish,” Martin reflected. “I’m really bummed. I hit a soft spot when I landed off a jump and the front-end just knifed on me.

“I’ve been managing a scaphoid fracture on my left wrist for months and a bum left shoulder. I still felt like I could be competitive to win races and contend for this outdoor championship. Unfortunately, stuff happens, and it’s time to get healthy!”

Martin had been charging forward through the pack after completing the opening lap in 17th position, but went down on lap two and pulled into the mechanic’s area. Still, he managed to take eighth overall for the weekend.

Elder brother of Jeremy Martin, Alex Martin of the Manluk Rock River Yamaha Merge Racing team, was also injured on Saturday, breaking the ulna and radius bones in his right arm before undergoing surgery.
