Team Honda HRC’s Hunter Lawrence left the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross opener at Fox Raceway in a reasonable frame of mind, despite referencing it as a ‘rough weekend’ to start the 2021 season.

Lawrence finished sixth overall at Pala despite struggling with rear traction in the opening encounter and early crashes in both outings, recording a 6-5 scorecard to commence the outdoors.

“It was a rough weekend,” he recalled. “To start off with two crashes in each moto wasn’t ideal, but we live and learn. I’m looking forward to next weekend, just to be able to be better and not make those mistakes. I’m happy to get the season started nonetheless. Sixth overall is a start – nothing to jump up and down about, but I’m happy to be fit and healthy.”

Following the opening round, Lawrence is P6 in the 250MX championship standings, 16 points outside of younger brother and teammate Jett Lawrence, who won the opening round and will carry the red plates into Colorado this weekend.
