Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki has revealed that Jordon Smith will miss the entire 2021 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship after he opted to undergo surgery on his troublesome shoulder that was injured in Monster Energy Supercross.

Smith, who had entered 250SX West with an existing thumb injury, went down at Arlington 3 and dislocated his right shoulder. That ended his campaign and will now also rule him out of the outdoors for this year.

“Unfortunately, I tried to ride a couple of weeks ago to see how my shoulder was feeling – I knew it was still pretty sore – and I didn’t even make it a lap,” Smith explained. “I knew it just wasn’t feeling like it should be, so the doctor said if it wasn’t feeling better at that point, I was probably going to need to get surgery.

“About two weeks ago I got surgery and already started rehab, trying to get it feeling better. It’s not really been hurting too much, it’s been feeling pretty good and it’s been a pretty easy recovery so far. We’re just looking forward to getting healthy again, getting back on the bike… it’s been a rough couple of years.

“I want to thank everybody at Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki, everybody for sticking behind me through these injuries. It’s been some tough times, but we’ll be back and we’ll be back up on that top step of the podium.”

Smith’s career has largely been affected by injuries, including the past two seasons since joining Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki. A torn ACL last year at Daytona ruled him out of the Supercross remainder on that occasion, also having to sit out the outdoors.
