Justin Barcia’s first Monster Energy Supercross season with the TLD Red Bull GasGas team was successful, with a win and four podiums that saw him finish fourth overall in the 450SX class.

Barcia came out swinging in his first race on the GasGas MC450F, taking the win at the opening round in Houston in January.

Despite a few rough rounds, Barcia managed to tally 10 top-10 finishes with four podiums through the season.

Coming into the final round of the season, Barcia was looking to take his second win of the year, but a botched start saw him deep in the pack and locked in mid-pack battles for much of the race, ultimately finishing seventh on the night.

“I felt good all day and was comfortable on the bike and the track, but finishing seventh wasn’t the way I wanted to end the season,” he explained following the race.

While round 17 may have been disappointing, Barcia’s got high hopes for the future as the team will continue to build momentum through the Pro Motocross season, which kicks off on 29 May.

“All-in-all it was a solid year, I ended up fourth in the championship,” he continued. “Next year we’ll have some improvements to make but for the first Supercross season with the team, it was really enjoyable and fun and we have a lot more to show for next year, so we’ll keep on plugging along!”
