Ken Roczen’s optimistic attitude when it comes to his 2021 season continued as he reflected on his second-place finish in the 2021 Monster Energy Supercross championship following the final round in Salt Lake City.

In what many would say is one of the toughest comebacks that we’ve seen in the sport following two massive arm injuries, Roczen continues to better himself each year.

While he’s fallen under criticism in recent weeks as he battled for the 450SX championship with Cooper Webb (Red Bull KTM), the German rider is taking solace in the fact he finished one position better than he did in 2020.

“Overall, I’ve had a good season,” Roczen explained. “I’ve never stayed in the game for so long—making it all the way to the last round being in the championship hunt.

“Last year I was third, this year I was second—at least we’re going in the right direction. We had some really good battles, and I learned a lot about myself this year. I’m looking forward to the outdoor season now, and the supercross season next year.”

Roczen’s finishes also helped lead the team to the manufactures cup alongside teammate Chase Sexton, and 250SX teammates Hunter and Jett Lawrence.

“It was a great finish to the season, with the team finishing in the top three of each championship,” said Team Honda HRC Manager Erik Kehoe. “The collective efforts of Ken, Chase, Jett, Hunter and the entire team paid off when Honda was awarded the 2021 Manufacturers’ Cup award based on all of the finishes in both classes for the season”

The team is now set to line up for the start of the 2021 Pro Motocross championship in three weeks time at Fox Raceway in Pala, CA on 29 May.
