Red Bull KTM team manager Ian Harrison believes the 2021 Monster Energy Supercross season was Cooper Webb’s best yet, as he captured eight wins and stood on the podium a total of 13 times en route to the 450SX championship.

Harrison has been amongst factory race teams for over 25 years and has seen quite a bit throughout his career, being involved with names like Albertyn, Pastrana, Carmichael, Reed, and Dungey.

The South African took over as Red Bull KTM’s team manager in 2019, when Webb took his first title but said following Saturday night’s race that this was his strongest season so far.

“This season I think was Cooper’s strongest season,” Harrison explained. “He got his most wins and the competition was really stiff from Honda and Kawasaki but he just fought his way through there.

“What a fighter, he was exceptionally strong at the end of all the races and he put up a battle with so many guys on the last lap and came out victorious many times.”

Webb’s season took a few rounds to get rolling, only notching one of his eight victories in the first six rounds, but it was round four where Harrison says he saw the change.

“Once we got to Round 4, he really found his groove and then he took command of the points lead around the middle mark of the season and there was no looking back,” He continued.

“It was truly an amazing season and it was awesome to be a part of it. Our team, everybody involved, they all did exactly what they needed to and more and we delivered, so I’m super happy.”

The team now switches focus to the  Pro Motocross series with the championship kicking off 29 May at Fox Raceway in Pala, CA. Webb will return to the series after only competing in one round in 2020 as he looks to take home his first 450MX championship.
