The final qualifying sessions of the 2021 Monster Energy Supercross season are in the books from Rice-Eccles Stadium in Salt Lake City with Chase Sexton topping the 450SX class and Justin Cooper taking the top spot overall in 250SX East/West Showdown times.

Overcast skies for the opening sessions of the day saw both of the top qualifiers log their laps during the first session as the final qualifying sessions got underway in Utah. The sun worked its way through the clouds, drying the track out for the final sessions, ultimately slowing the track by a small margin.

In 450SX, it laying down the fastest lap of the day with a 41.706s lap time to set the benchmark early, a time that eventually stuck throughout the day. His teammate Ken Roczen, who still has a shot at the championship, topped the second session of the day but wasn’t able to top Sexton’s time from the earlier session.

Jason Anderson (Rockstar Energy Husqvarna) took third place on the day as he looks to grab his first win of the season in tonight’s final round. Fourth was Eli Tomac (Monster Energy Kawasaki) ahead of red-plate holder Cooper Webb (Red Bull KTM) as he looks to take home his second championship this evening.

Fresh off of his first 450SX podium with third last weekend, Malcolm Stewart (Monster Energy Star Racing Yamaha) took sixth overall. Stewart finished just ahead of teammate and newly crowned 450SX rookie of the year Dylan Ferrandis in seventh.

Eighth was last week’s winner Marvin Musquin (Red Bull KTM), who looks to continue his momentum this evening, while Justin Barcia (TLD Red Bull GasGas) took ninth. The final spot in the top 10 went to Rocky Mountain ATV/MC KTM’s Joey Savatgy.

His 41.864s lap put him nearly a half-second ahead of rookie Seth Hammaker (Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki) who clocked a 42.437s lap for second place.

Jett Lawrence (Team Honda HRC) took third ahead of his older brother and teammate Hunter in fourth. The duo lining up together tonight for the first time this season, as Hunter looks to make a run for the 250SX East championship.

Fifth place and first rider in the 43s range was Cameron McAdoo (Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki) who returned to action after recovering from his crash-filled week in Atlanta.

Michael Mosiman (TLD Red Bull GasGas) was sixth place after leading much of the second session, with Mitchell Harrison putting his Muc-Off Honda in seventh place overall in the team’s return to action.

It was a tie for eighth place as Jalek Swoll (Rockstar Energy Husqvarna) and Garrett Marchbanks (ClubMX Yamaha) both logged 43.153s laps, and the final spot in the top 10 went to last week’s winner Jo Shimoda (Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki).
