Monster Energy Star Racing Yamaha’s Christian Craig underwent surgery to plate his broken fibula bone in his leg as he sets his sights on round one of Lucas Oil Pro Motocross.

Craig was injured in qualifying at Salt Lake City’s penultimate round of Monster Energy Supercross last weekend and, despite attempting to ride, was forced out of title contention.

The 250SX veteran confirmed today that his surgery was a success, which should enable him to efficiently rebound from the injury in time for the outdoor season to commence next month. Craig was just out points out from the 250SX West lead when the incident occurred.

“I had surgery Tuesday morning to get a plate put in,” Craig said. “The plate cuts my time to get back on the bike in half, so we went that rout – should be good to go in less than three weeks.

“Luckily, I’ve got a lot of outdoor motos under my belt, so I’m not worried. Thank you to everyone for all the messages, comments and love on our YouTube videos. Feeling the fomo of not being at SLC this weekend.”

It’s tipped that Craig will once again be in the 450 class outdoors after a promising campaign at Team Honda HRC last season, spending much of the western region’s break in Supercross preparing on-board the factory YZ450F in motocross trim.
